After reading and understanding the ways to amend Nevada's Constitution, I certainly feel there should not be more ways to amend our state's Constitution as the methods in place are certainly sufficient

Sociology

After reading and understanding the ways to amend Nevada's Constitution, I certainly feel there should not be more ways to amend our state's Constitution as the methods in place are certainly sufficient. Today we must have ample consensus to yielding 2/3 votes following the majority rule which provides many outlets to ensure that amendments are following the overall needs of the people and not just single-handed to one person or party of another. This matter has certainly not been problematic to date, however, things change and with change could come a need to focus on additional methods, but I don't foresee this being a challenge today or in the near future. When I was reading the ways in which Nevada's Constitution could be amended, I actually thought to myself that this was a lot of good ways that the Constitution could be amended even before seeing what our discussion would be for this week. The power is reasonably put within the majority and the people and the rules are flexible enough so that changes can actually be made instead of just put on hold. The need to have just a simple majority in both houses gives greater chances for an amendment to be referred. This same method goes for when the voters are voting, increasing the chances that an amendment will be added to Nevada's Constitution. Also with this method, there is having the Legislature have convention after the approval of voters. The 2/3 vote in Legislature assures the necessity to propose the convention and it can more easily be approved by the people with yet again, a simple majority vote. This is why I think that there should not be more ways to amend our state's Constitution. I believe that thee 130 amendments that were made up to 2009 are a testament to how effective the current processes we have in place to amend the NV constitution already are. Yet, I do think that money rules politicians + legislature.. It can sometimes be difficult to pass laws when corporations are paying off legislature to protect them, as we saw with Assembly Bill 118 which sought to cap interest rates for pay day loan companies, this bill was squashed, assumably because Pay Day Loan Companies lobbied and donated money to members of the NV legislature. What happens if the people decide that they'd like to amend the constitution to prevent corporations from funding our politicians? Limit PACS + Super PACS? Would our legislature really vote for something that would eliminate their additional cash flow? When/If we find ourselves in this dilemma, I do think that we should create more ways to amend the constitution. Placing more power in the hands of the people. I do think that the methods we have in place for amending the construction are sufficient enough, for now there are no need for changes that may be one in the future as the world changes. The Legislature votes of two-thirds vote of each house is sufficient | believe it is under the "majority" umbrella as far as the Senate or Assembly. Like it states in the text the vote has to be ratified by the people if one or more contradict. I believe no matter how you slice the pie there are fail safes.
