Good quality HiFi loudspeakers often incorporate two or more drivers (loudspeakers), each one handling a separate range of audio frequencies
Good quality HiFi loudspeakers often incorporate two or more drivers (loudspeakers), each one handling a separate range of audio frequencies. Passive components including Resistors, Inductors and Capacitors are used to “steer” the high or low frequencies in the audio signal to the appropriate driver. You have been engaged to characterise (that is, to test and document) by simulation, a circuit design of an RLC (Resistor, Inductor, Capacitor) series circuit, and produce theoretical performance data. The circuit comprises of the individual loudspeaker driver (which itself has the fixed characteristics of a 0.015H inductor (L1) in series with a 6 Ohm resistor (X1). Remember: this is still one physical component). This is connected in series with a RLC filter stage, whose component values are given in the table, Table 2, below. Select only the one correct set of figures based on the LAST DIGIT of your student ID. The circuit simulation will be conducted using a variable frequency signal generator, operating at an output voltage of 10V RMS. Most of your measurements will be conducted at the fixed frequency (f) given in the table. Complete each of the following steps: Last Digit of Student ID R2(?) L2 (mH) C1 (µF) f (Hz) 0 9 15 4.7 10 1 16 12 2.2 20 2 9 18 6.8 30 3 16 22 6.8 40 4 9 22 10 50 5 16 10 6.8 60 6 9 15 22 70 7 16 12 10 80 8 9 12 6.8 90 9 16 12 15 100
