Delbrook Community Center Achievements Presentation

WORKING WITH THE SLIDE MASTER AND SLIDE SHOW/PRESENTATIONS

  • *GETTING STARTED
  • Open the file SC_PPT19_EOM4-1_FirstLastName_1.pptx, available for download from the SAM website.
  • Save the file as SC_PPT19_EOM4-1_FirstLastName_2.pptx by changing the “1” to a “2”.
    • If you do not see the .pptx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
  • To complete this SAM Project, you will also need to download and save the following data files from the SAM website onto your computer:
    • Support_PPT19_EOM4-1_Center.jpg
    • Support_PPT19_EOM4-1_Community.jpg
  • With the file SC_PPT19_EOM4-1_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.
    • If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.
  • PROJECT STEPS
  1. As the director of the Delbrook Community Center in Portland, OR, you have developed a presentation showcasing the center's achievements over the past year. Begin by applying the Office theme to the presentation.
  2. Modify the Office theme by selecting the theme variant that is second from the left in the selection of variants. Change the theme fonts to Candara. Change the theme effects to Frosted Glass. Customize the color of Text/Background—Dark 2 (currently Blue-Gray Background 2) by changing the color to Turquoise, Accent 3, Darker 50%. Save the custom theme color as Turquoise.
  3. Switch to Slide Master view, select the Title Slide Layout (used by Slide 1), then change the background style to Style 9.
  4. Select the Office Theme Slide Master (used by Slide(s) 1–9) at the top of the selection of slide layouts. Change the color of the Master title style to Turquoise, Accent 3, Darker 25%.
  5. Select the Content with Caption Layout (the eighth placeholder from the top and used by Slide 8). Rename the Content with Caption layout Celebration. Insert a Picture content placeholder, and then use the mouse to size and position it so that it appears similar to Figure 1.
  6. Select the Blank layout and name it Final. Change the slide background to the Canvas texture. Insert the picture Support_PPT19_EOM4-1_Center.jpg. Crop the picture to the oval shape. Use your mouse to position the cropped picture as shown in Figure 2, and then close the Slide Master view.
  7.
  8. Apply the Final layout to the last slide in the presentation. (Hint: Final may already appear as if it has been applied, but you will need to re-apply the layout to see changes.) On Slide 7 ("Other Activities"), apply the Celebration layout. Insert the file Support_PPT19_EOM4-1_Community.jpg in the Picture placeholder.
  9. Hide Slide 3 ("What Makes Us Tick") so it does not appear during a presentation.
  10. On Slide 6 ("Programs – Recreation"), hide the background graphics, and then change the slide background to a Pattern fill that uses the Vertical stripes: Light pattern with the foreground color set to Turquoise, Accent 3, Lighter 80% and the background color to Turquoise, Accent 3, Lighter 40%.
  11. In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following page. Save your changes, close the presentation, and exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
