Questions The below questions should be used for your final essays. You can choose any question you like to answer. Your answer should be consisted from 3 parts: 1. You cover the question from the aspect of the philosophers stated. 2. You attempt to answer the question using a methodology from any of the philosophers covered up to the spring break (i.e. just before Jean-Jacques Rousseau), discussing why you chose this philosopher. 3. You attempt to provide a synthesis of the opinions of the philosophers discussed in part 1, discussing your own opinion through that. 
Question 1 Why do we use Utility theory in economics? How do you think this utilitarianism arose and from which philosophical movement? What do you think are the consequences of utilitarianism in modern society (positive and/or negative). a) What is utility? b) Who decides on the utility, how and why? c) How is utility connected to private property? d) How do you evaluate utility? e) How do you think the idea of maximising utility arose socially? f) What are the psychological consequences to people from utility maximization?
