CUSTOMIZING A PRESENTATION AND THE POWERPOINT ENVIRONMENT

GETTING STARTED

• Open the file NP_PPT19_EOM6-1_FirstLastName_1.pptx, available for download from the SAM website.
• Save the file as NP_PPT19_EOM6-1_FirstLastName_2.pptx by changing the “1” to a “2”.
  • If you do not see the .pptx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
• To complete this SAM Project, you will also need to download and save the following data files from the SAM website onto your computer:
  • Support_PPT19_EOM6-1_QAChanges.pptx
• With the file NP_PPT19_EOM6-1_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.
  • If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.

PROJECT STEPS

1. As the workforce coordinator for WQA Enterprises, a provider of Total Quality Assurance services to clients worldwide, you have developed a presentation describing the four categories of Quality Assurance services for potential clients.
   Begin by changing the transparency of the fill in the text box on slide 1 containing the text "Total Quality Assurance" to 25%.
2. With the slide title still selected, customize the fonts used in the presentation by selecting Cambria as the heading font.
3. Save the presentation, compare the current presentation with Support_PPT19_EOM6-1_QAChanges.pptx, and then review changes as follows:
   On Slide 5 ("Testing"), accept the suggested change—the deletion of "and exceed". On Slide 8 ("Selected Inspection Categories"), accept the suggested change—the deletion of "Field Labeling Inspection". End the presentation review.
4. View the Slide Master and then make changes as follows:
   Rename the Celestial Slide Master to Quality Assurance. (Hint: Do not include the period.) With the renamed Slide Master still selected, change the background style to Style 3. Change the font size of the Master title style to 44 point. Add a Picture placeholder to the Title Slide layout so that it is 4.6" high , 3.5" wide and positioned as shown in Figure 1, then exit Slide Master view.

5. On Slide 2 ("Overview"), select the three sub-bullets ("Over 500. . ." to "100+ countries"), then modify the bullet symbol as follows:
   Change the bullet to the solid black right arrow symbol in the Wingdings font (Character code: 232). Change the color of the bullet symbol to Gold, Accent 1. Change the size of the bullet symbol to 120%.
6. With Slide 2 ("Overview") still selected, align the paragraph in the red text box to the Left.
7. On Slide 4 ("Assurance Services"), change the width of the content placeholder nonproportionally so that its width is reduced to 6" and the height remains the same.
8. On Slide 5 ("Testing"), select the three bulleted items, then change the style of bullets to Checkmark Bullets.
9. On Slide 6 ("Selected Testing Categories"), align the two placeholders containing bulleted text so that the top of the gold placeholder is even with the top of the orange placeholder.
10. Show the comments in the presentation, and then work with comments as follows:
    On Slide 6 ("Selected Testing Categories"), insert a comment containing the text I think we should add Food Testing. (Hint: Include the period.) Go to the next comment in the presentation (on Slide 7), and reply to the comment with the text Please leave as is. (Hint: Include the period.) Go to the next comment in the presentation (on Slide 10), and then delete the comment.
11. Switch to Handout Master view, then customize the Handout master as follows:
    Enter Quality Assurance as the header text. Change the font size of the header text to 24 point and exit Handout Master view.
12. Create a custom slide show that focuses on Inspection and Certification services only as follows:
    Use Inspection & Certification as the name of the Custom Slide Show. Include Slides 7, 8, 9, and 10 in the Custom Slide Show.
13. Save the presentation, then mark the presentation as Final.

In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following page. Save your changes, close the presentation, and exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
