and permeability µ is coated onto the interface between two innite half-spaces of lossless media with

respective properties (ε1,µ1) and (ε2,µ2), as shown in Figure 1. What coating parameters ε and µ and

thickness d will allow all the time-average power from region 1 to be transmitted through the coating

to region 2? Such coatings are applied to optical communication devices mostly used together with

optical bres to minimize unwanted reections and to maximize the transmitted light intensity
