Technology plays an essential role in shaping society and has become a significant part of our daily life (Sherman & Kurshan, 2005). It has improved the way we communicate, leading to solid connections. It has also improved the education system through e-learning and the criminal justice system by ensuring efficient data sharing and fast but comprehensive investigations. However, technology has had its negative impact on society, including social isolation, over-automation, and loss of jobs. The four lenses have helped me understand how technological issues influence personal life. Studying history, culture, natural and social science, and social media use helps understand the technology and its impact on society. In my field of the criminal justice system, I can use it to understand various techniques of analyzing cross-sectional data. Different social practices have been changed, including diversity in colleges that have become conformity in many school practices (Sherman & Kurshan, 2005). One of the critical implications of technology in the future is artificial intelligence in the education sector. Education institutions are expected to resort to online learning in the future amid the health crisis of COVID19. Another implication is intelligent assistants and virtual reality in the workplace (Deb, 2014). Since I have learned the benefits and potential side effects of technology, I plan to apply the information in my daily use. I will also try to enlighten my colleagues about the potential impact of over-reliance on technology.
