I agree with you that it is such a relief to have a manager who understands, trusts and stands up for his or her nurses. Looking at the case of your fellow nurse, I think she was in the right position to ask the patient all kinds of questions as part of assessing her, starting from general to specific questions. I think it is through that kind of assessment that the nurse can provide a comprehensive report about the patient that will enable the next caregivers to give holistic care. Hence, the nurse, as attested and supported by her manager, did not step out of her scope but was within her line of duty in practicing holistic care.

Undeniably, from your statistics finding, it is clear that there is inadequate implementation of evidenced based practice (EBP) in caring for patients. EBP is important in enhancing patient outcomes and overall healthcare quality. However, to achieve its full implementation, there is need for conceited efforts by nurses and cooperation among various healthcare professionals in making EBP a reality. There is also the need for nursing knowledge and more research on EBP. More importantly, more time should be created in advancing knowledge on the implementation of EBP, allocate adequate resources and facilities for its implementation, and support from the administration.
