This week we focus on some additional terms for IT users

There can be different groups in an organization that work to ensure that other organizational goals are achieved. Therefore, these groups tend to be given the name a community of practice (CoP). CoP refers to grouping people together to share one concern, various problems or a particular interest in a given field and who came together to ensure that both the different goals of the individual and those of the group are achieved. CoP is known for focusing on sharing different best activities and creating other new knowledge to improve a given domain of professional practices in an organization (Cruess, Cruess & Steinert, 2018).  Interaction is noted to be important when discussing the different aspects that are related to the community of practice in an organization. Most of the CoPs in an organization often rely on face-to-face communication and meeting and use a web-based collaborative environment for communicating, connecting, and carrying out different community activities (Fishman et al., 2019).

Community of practice is essential in an organization and featured with promoting the culture of an organization. It focuses on drawing together the different domains, techniques, and members in an organization and providing the different benefits that both members and the whole organization want (Fishman et al., 2019). This is important as it unites members and ensures that the culture of the organization is met.  Also, it is featured with conducting a cost-effective way of providing that there is the enhancement of learning, reducing the silos in an organization, and promoting different innovations.
