Details: Take out two sheets of paper. Label the first sheet "academic intelligence." In 5 minutes, list all of the behaviors that you can think of that are characteristic of academic intelligence. After completing this list, put this sheet aside. Label the second sheet "everyday intelligence" and spend 5 minutes listing behaviors that are characteristic of this type of intelligence. Include only behaviors on your list, not people, professions, school subjects, etc.
How do the behaviors that you listed relate to those reported by Sternberg and his colleagues?
Expert Solution
Academic intelligences (things you learn at school) include things such as: time management, honesty, discipline, sharing, objectiveness, diversity, competitiveness, dependability, social skills to include: waiting your turn, sharing, patience etc.
Everyday Intelligence (things your mom taught you) include: morals, religious beliefs, right from wrong, honesty, loyalty, compassion, faithfulness, etc.
These should give a good start and provide some guidance in the right direction. A lot of the intelligences will fall under both categories. I think the best way to come up with these is to think about what you learned in elementary school. This is the time frame when a great of these behaviors were learned.
