Climate Fellowship Application

My interest in climate arose from the need to live a convenient, healthy, and environmentally sustainable life. Moreover, I am interested in making a global impact; thus, addressing climate issues affecting the globe is a good place to start. In connection to this, I am interested in this university’s climate fellow since it is a platform where people can gather and think about ways of solving the climate crisis affecting the world. The stance stems from the realization that tackling climate problems is not a short personal project but a huge long-term activity that requires collaboration. I am also interested in the fellowship since it is a platform that allows students to collaborate and participate in events that teach about green technology and climate change factors.

Solving the climate crisis requires a person to understand the challenges that prevent the world from realizing this goal. With this in mind, the top three challenges, in my opinion, are: Developing a storage battery and upgrading the efficiency of renewable energy, changing the current energy policies and building a climate consensus on the use of green energy, and making green energy cost-effective for countries across the globe. Therefore, in my academic and professional career, I would like to tackle climate topics that focus on enhancing battery usage and improving the efficiency of renewable energy. My focus on battery development stems from the belief that these devices will reduce carbon emissions by housing clean electricity.

Achieving such a feat requires an individual to have goals that will promote progress. Therefore, in five years, I would like to have studied current environmental policies and clean energy. Moreover, I see myself having a post-graduate degree and good interpersonal skills that will enhance my ability to connect with people across the globe. Apart from this, in five years, I would like to be working in the United States clean energy department to get experience in real-world climate issues. With such an experience, I have gained knowledge on ways of solving global climate problems. Although these are important milestones, my ultimate goal is to return to Korea and be a leader who can to influence companies and other Asian countries to use clean energy and implement the right policies.

Last of all, as a fellow of this university's climate fellowship, one of my personal goals is to know people interested in climate change. Moreover, I also aim to brainstorm and collaborate with other fellowship members to prevent the escalation of the current climate crisis. Lastly, I intend to use this fellowship as an opportunity to be an all-rounded person with the ability to interact and collaborate with people from all races and ethnicities on ways of avoiding climate disasters.
