Article 1 The article "Exploring Nurse Communication and Spirituality" talks about the spiritual care experiences of different oncology nurses to help learn more about their patients' needs. As the authors state, when most patients are approaching their deaths, spiritual communications are more comforting for both the patient and the families (Wittenberg et al., 2017). I agree with this because most human beings believe in the higher being and believe that much consolation comes from their Superior being. Spiritual communications offer solace and are a source of fulfillment to most vulnerable people, these patients being amongst them. The authors suggest that the patient and not the nurse should initiate these spiritual communications (Wittenberg et al., 2017). The nurses, however, must have the necessary skills, including talking abilities and listening skills, to participate in such conversations due to the delicate nature of the patient. Spiritual communications boost the patients' morale and enable them to express themselves emotionally. I believe not all oncology nurses are spiritual. However, based on this research paper, most patients facing death and families to the patients benefit a lot from spiritual communications. It is, therefore, necessary that these nurses receive sufficient training on how to handle their patients' spiritual requirements and how to participate in these types of conversations effectively. I agree with the conclusion of this research that there is a need to come up with a spiritual curriculum for medics and offer the necessary training. However, I feel that the research conducted here was quite insufficient. The study used the survey method to obtain information from the nurses (Wittenberg et al., 2017). However, they restricted their research questions to what happens during spiritual communications. This research should be extensive and seek information about how these spiritual communications with such patients affect the nurses. The study should also seek information about what skills they need to help them take part in such conversation.
