Public health is comprised of various core concepts that are unique and a blend of public health science and medicine and nursing. These core concepts at a minimum include population health, epidemiology, health promotion/prevention and community assessment.

1. For your first post, choose one of these core public health concepts. Define it and give an example of its use in the community. Then, identify how the traditional health care system (hospitals, physicians, individual-based care, etc) could utilize this core concept to improve quality, cost, and the health of the population.

2. Respond to a minimum of two posts from your classmates with feedback on their application of public health core concepts to the traditional health care system.
