SYSTEM ANALYSIS AND DESIGN

I’m an I.T student and I have been working at a company that involves databases and analysis of a given set of data. I will not lie my job has been easy because the IT world is growing daily but the knowledge that I gained from my course has really come in handy. There are some of the ways that it has helped me;

• Data analysis is not just about entering data. It also involves running it through programs that help find its mean, standard deviation, sum and the rest. The knowledge that I gained helped me to be able to manipulate software in a way that I can do this easily. I have been taught how to manipulate R language; EXCEL, STATA and these soft wares have really helped me.
• Moreover, I have learnt how to make machines communicate with each other. In the work that I do, at times we have to transfer information from one office to another. This was very difficult for me at first but after gaining the knowledge from this course, I’m able to transfer data using Ethernet cables and also using the normal data connections.
• In addition to that, I have also improved my technical skills. At some point in the course, we were taught how to open up a machine and check what it contains and how they work. In my current company, this skill has really come in handy. This is because the machines are always jamming up because of one technical reason or the other and I have always been able to open them up and check where the problem is and more often than not I’m able to solve the issue on my own without having to consult anyone.
• At some point in our course we were also taught about coding. My current company runs on several codes and at times the codes being created do not work. The skills and knowledge that I received from my course come in handy because I’m able to analyse programs and note which error is being done and more often than not I’m able to correct it.
•  How to relate with others is also a very key guide that the course taught us. It has really come in handy because while I work for my current company, I meet a lot people and I’m able to interact with them and making them feel friendly because a good relation goes a long way in any society.
• Some of the mathematical formulas that we were being taught at the time did not seem to make any sense. I’m talking about calculus, statistics and so forth. However, after working at my current company, I have realized that they were to come in handy as I analyse data. They were also very important because some of them I literally have to incorporate in a code for them to work effectively.
• Another key point that we were taught was how to maintain computers. These C.P.U’s and mainframes that are in the company do not just stay working on their own. They have to be maintained and taken care of once in a while to make sure that they serve for a long time. This course taught me the basics of good machine management and how to maintain them.

CONCLUSION.

It is very true when I say that this course has been the backbone of everything that I know. It has helped me to become an asset at the company I’m working for right now because I have knowledge about so many things such as coding, using complex soft wares and also maintain machines. The skills and knowledge I gained is what has enabled me to get to this point.
