In order to prove its subject the author uses different elements as a character and a plot in "The Necklace," the short story by Guy DE Maupassant. Mathilda lives as a clerk in the short story, but he feels she was born to live a more excellent social life. . This causes her to be poor because of a collar she borrowed and lost on the ball (Guy de Maupassant, 2003). The desire to have more than you have can lead to your life's destruction. The plot and characteristics of the story mainly brought up this theme.

The author showed the readers an enormous moral by using the plot from the story. "And that's the only thing she loved—she felt that she was made for them." Mathilde felt like she was made, like delightful dresses, jewelry and rooms for all kinds of good stuff.. This brought the first part of the subject when covetousness arrives. "She turned in frenzy to him, 'It's gone the necklace__.'" In the heart of the story the theme came out. This is when her life worsens because she lost the necklace.

The plot of the story shows that the desire to have more than that can lead to your life's destruction. It reveals that avidness for wealth or something you don't have. Worked for may worsen the condition. I also understand from the story how little it takes to destroy your life. From the plot, I also understand how selfishness can lead to bad endings and bad outcomes.
