(P4)
Objectives
At the end of this practical task, the students shall be able to:
- Measure the reading of sample through micrometer, height gauge and bevel protractor
- Ability to select appropriate measurement dimension based on the equipment functionality
- Competence handle the equipments effectively and get the accurate result
Main Resources
- Micrometer, Height Guage and Bevel Protractor
- Measured Object / Workpiece
Overview
Dimension is a numerical value expressed in appropriate units of measurement and used to define the size, location, orientation, form or other geometric characteristics of a part. In other words, indicating on a drawing, the sizes of the object and the other details essential for its construction and function using lines, numerals, symbols, notes, etc., is called dimensioning. There are few types of dimensions usually used which include linear dimension and angular dimension. Linear dimension is a measurement of the horizontal or vertical dimension of a feature. Linear dimensions may not represent the true distance between beginning and ending dimension points because they do not take angle into account as aligned dimensions. Angular dimensions annotate the angle measured between two lines, two linear segments of a polyline or the angle of a circular arc. This practical task will covered measurement of both dimension.
General Instructions
