High-quality early childhood education settings reflect the three basic elements of developmentally appropriate practice (DAP) by basing their programs on what is known about child development and learning, what is known about each individual child, and what is known about each child’s social and cultural context. Developmentally appropriate principles benefit children in many ways and according to Copple and Bredekamp, “Developmentally appropriate practice is at the core of being an excellent early childhood professional”.   As an early childhood professional, describe the following:
