DCOM 101 Extra Credit – Class B Subnetting

You have been contracted by a large company that wants to subnet their network. Right now they are using a Class B network with the following IP and Subnet info: 172.20.0.0/16. The company wants a minimum of 14 subnets with at least 3,000 hosts per subnet. Make sure to answer the three questions and show all of your work in binary and decimal. You can use the magic number trick to help you long, but all work must be shown.

This assignment is worth an additional 5% to your letter grade.

1. How many bits will you steal/borrow? What is the new Subnet Mask?
   
    
2. List the Network IDs and the Broadcast IDs for the first 14 subnets. 

3. List the host address ranges for each of the first 14 subnets.
