Introduction: The following scenario consists a 25-year-old married individual who has a bachelors outside of a high school diploma. The variables will consist of marital status, annual household income, family size, annual expenditures, and food expenses. With me and my wife’s income our annual household income is $95,000 annually. Our food expenditures annually total to $10,000 and the annual expenditures are $14,000.

State the Random Variable and Parameter in Words: The random variable in this expenditure is represented as “X.” The Parameter in words will be the numerical or measurable boundaries of a set that defines the system. In the variable food it would be the parameters of the most money spent on food a month compared to the least amount of money spent on food in a different month. Income also plays a huge part in the outcome of this variable.

Confidence interval method including confidence level and rationale for using it: The confidence interval will test the boundaries by which the values will contain the unknown parameter. Using the confidence interval, one will be able to approximate the mean of food. Sample means would be used seeing as the variable is quantitive also I would use the 95% confidence level
