Behavioural Environment Design Assignment: 
10% of Final Grade 
Objective: Using the range of environmental criteria provided create and describe the ideal behavioural early learning environment for young children. For each criteria include a clear assessment of the potential positives for children and their behaviour when supported by a well prepared proactive environment. Include a complementary assessment, using the criteria provided, of the potential negative impact that a poorly designed environment can have on the behaviour of children. 
1. Students will use the template provided for the assignment as a guide for preparing their description of an environment built on best practices for young children. Bullet form information can be used to describe the various components that are linked to the main elements of time, space, materials and people. 
2. Potential positive impacts on children’s behaviour need to be identified based on the information provided. The completed template must be fully assessed and handed in with the final assignment. 
3. The potential negative impacts also need to be identified across the various environmental criteria. Specific impacts on behaviour are required. 
4. Provide a set of practical strategies that educators can use to ensure they are consistently provided the most positive and behaviourally supportive environment for the young children they are working with. Be sure to discuss all four elements ( space, time ,materials and people ) as part of the strategies to be suggested.
