Watch this video of a series of scenes from the 2011 film The Artist, keeping in the mind the notion of Context as carrying the idea of one frame to the next to create the illusion of movement, one shot over to the next to create a scene, and one scene to the next to create a narrative. What is the story in this short sequence and what do you think are the important images in this sequence that tell the story? Discuss how the director is using a series of images to create a dramatic story with suspense and tension.

Then try to relate this to any other scene from any other movie that you like. What scene from one of your favorite movies do you think works effectively and why? What are the series of images that tell the story or grab you emotionally in a move scene that you find memorable? How do the images help you create a narrative that captivates you?

Identify one quantitative design and one qualitative design discussed in the Required Readings for this unit that might be useful for your own study. What would implementation of those types of designs require from you as the researcher in terms of how you would carry out the study and the instrument you would use to collect data?
