Acid-Base Reaction - NaNO3, KCl, BaSO4

Write a balanced chemical equation showing how you could prepare each of the following salts from an acid-base reaction: NaNO3, KCl, BaSO4.

Expert Solution

Each of the following are listed like this:

acid + base ----> salt + water

HNO3 + NaOH ---> NaNO3 + H2O

HCl + KOH ----> KCl + H2O

H2SO4 + Ba(OH)2 ----> BaSO4 + 2 H2O

Make sense? You list the acid first. To keep it simple use simple protic acids. Then list a simple base. In each case I used an hydroxide. Then the salt is the combination of the cation from the base with the anion of the acid. Water forms as well.
