supersonic air planes are good example of sound speed, they travel 340 meters per second, and as the light they travel as wave but what differ they from each other is that light travels a million times faster. Another good example of sound speed is when you are in a thunder storm and you see a lighting, if you count how long it takes just after you see it you can calculate the distance doing simple maths S = t* 340m/s
