Choose and watch a movie- It can be an old or new favorite, it doesn’t have to be a drama.

Then answer all of the following questions.  Be thorough in your answers and supply at least three examples to your responses. Identify which questions you are addressing.  Although these questions are separate, please make every effort to make the paper one continuous analysis.  You can build on previous questions, etc.  Your paper should still include an introduction of the movie, the analysis, and a conclusion.  Paper should be about 3-4 pages.

1. How do men and women embody language differently in this movie? Do they deviate from their given gender?  If so, when?  Please include at least 3 examples.

2. Provide examples of three types of ineffective listening. Define the type, then give three examples per listening style (total of 9 examples).

3. Identify examples of self-disclosure made by characters in this movie. What was the purpose of the self-disclosure? Was the self-disclosure appropriate?  Was it reciprocated?  Did the benefits outweigh the costs?  Please include 3 examples in your discussion.

4. How much did culture impact the perceptions in the main relationship? If you don’t think it had an impact, explain why.  Please include at least 2 examples in your discussion.

5. Considering the characteristics of a competent communicator, would you consider anyone from the movie relationship to be a competent communicator? Why or why not?  Please include at least 2 behavioral examples in your discussion.

6. Did you observe any lapses in ethical communication behavior? Did anyone in the movie show a strong ethical perspective?  Please explain and give at least 2 examples in your discussion.
