For each of the following questions, state briefly what the construct is that you think the question is most likely designed to measure.  In some cases there may be more than one plausible measurement goal. (Don't answer the questions; just state what the construct is, in your opinion.)

Survey Questions to Analyze for the Construct (not to personally answer):

1. How old are you?
2. Do you own a car?
3. What is your income?
4. Do you use LED light bulbs?
5. In the next ten years, do you believe that climatic variation will increase, decrease, or stay about the same as it is now?
6. Do you consider yourself to be an environmentally-friendly person?

Imagine that you collected data about visitors to Crater Lake. This data has estimates of the number of visitors to the lake from 10 different travel zones, as well as the population within those zones. Imagine the transportation and time costs are approximately 2 dollars per person per mile in each direction plus a $25 car fee. For simplicity, pretend that only one person travels in each car. The data is contained in the spreadsheet on Canvas website.

• • Plot out the proportion of visitors for each zonal travel cost.
  • Fit a line to this data and note the coefficient on the travel cost.
  • Now create the demand curve for this data by following the instructions in the excel spreadsheet.
