World War II set in motion a series of developments that led to significant economic and demographic growth within California. This growth led to unprecedented suburban growth and affluence for some and aggravated existing tensions that were bubbling just under the surface of society. Analyze the post-war years in California and suburban growth, be sure to highlight not only the growth of the suburbs but also the culture that developed there and the problems of urban decay as a result of suburban growth.
