RESEARCH PAPER: Students will select and investigate a topic within evolutionary psychology, about which they will write a research paper that is at least 5 full pages (not including title page, abstract, and references page). Students can pick almost any topic that explores psychological processes from an evolutionary psychology perspective. Topics that merely explore how human culture or society has changed over the past few thousand years are not acceptable. The paper should be a thorough and critical review of the existing literature about one’s topic. NOTE: A one-paragraph typed summary of your topic must be approved before you begin the paper. Students will need to read and critically review at least 10 scholarly sources. The research paper will account for 20% of your final course grade. It is critical that you follow APA writing style as well as put the references in APA style. Papers are to be well organized, free of grammatical and spelling errors, and follow the writing and stylistic guidelines of the American Psychological Association (APA). Written assignments must have a cover page and be originally titled (e.g., Final Project is not acceptable). Papers are to be double-­spaced, have 1" margins (top, bottom, and sides), and be submitted in 12-?point, Times New Roman font. The references should be from scholarly sources such as academic books or peer-reviewed journal articles. Sources can be scholarly texts and prominent evolutionary psychology journals. No sources from the popular press or non-academic websites will be acceptable. You cannot use sources such as magazine articles, information published on non-academic websites, magazines, etc. Avoid using any direct quotations in your paper. I want to see your own words.
