Experimental study •Research question: Does exposure to certain colors affect a person’s mood? •Hypothesis: People exposed to different colors will report different moods. Design: Between groups design Participants were randomly assigned to be exposed to one of five colors. We then measured their moods. • Participants were asked several questions about the pictures just to encourage them to spend more time looking at the colors. Each participant read the informed consent statement. Next, they indicated their gender and age. Next, each participant saw three pictures (a bathroom, a woman, and a man). Each participant was randomly assigned to see the pictures in only one color (red, gray, blue, pink, yellow). Each participant only saw ONE of the colors. We then measured the participants’ moods using: The Brief Mood Introspection Scale (BMIS) Overview of the Brief Mood Introspection Scale The BMIS scale is an open-source mood scale consisting of 16 mood-adjectives to which a person responds (e.g., Are you "happy"?).
