In a 2,500 word essay (maximum word count) you are required to critically evaluate the qualities and skills that management consultants need to effectively help companies solve problems and adapt to changes in the business environment.

Your evaluation should consider the qualities and skills required at each stage of the consulting process from initial entry and contracting through to the final evaluation stage.  Where appropriate you should reflect on your experience as a member of the consultancy project group.

Here are some suggestions for laying out and developing your individual assignment

1. Identify the list of qualities

You will find a useful list by Buchanan and Boddy on p.45 in the core text book (here is the link to access the e-book)

2. Go through them individually and and identify which of the personnel profile factors they require:

Knowledge

Skill

Experience

Attitude

Rfelect on whether the quality can be trained (knowledge/skill); developed (experience); or attitude (you are born with it and have an aptitude

3. Go through Bullock and Batten's four phases on p.18 in the core text book:

Exploration

Planning

Action

Integration

Which qualities are required in each phase. Link these phases to the consulting process stages introducesd in week 5 lecture; use examples to illustrate how this works
