Orbital debris and the damage it can do to satellites and manned spacecraft has been an increasing concern to both NASA and DoD, especially the ISS. Considering the long orbital lifetimes of orbiting objects, discuss what new initiatives are there to track, identify, catalog, and mitigate this threat? Make sure to include the military threat of purposeful destruction of orbiting objects (ASATs and BMDS) and the orbital debris it would create along with the new effort to recover launch boosters intact (SpaceX Falcon).
