1. Group Report:

Students are to compose a 1,500 word report essay on one of the following organisations:

Can pick any of them

• Hezbollah
• The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia (FARC)
• The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE)
• The Baader-Meinhopf Group
• The Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA)
• Boko Haram

The essay should address the following criteria:

• The origins of the group
• The grievances and goals of the group
• How the group operates
• Whether the group should be classified as a terrorist or insurgent organisation based on the theories students have been exposed to up until this point
• How the government responded to the group
• Whether the group has been successful in achieving its goals and why/why not
• Provide a bibliography

The report should draw on no less than 6 scholarly sources
