Writing

Final Project

For your final project you must identify what you believe to be the largest, worst, most shocking, ethical dilemma in sports today. Then you will be asked to write a paper on that topic; exploring each side of the issue, and concluding with your thoughts.

This moral issue can be something new that has caught your attention, or can be adopted from a previous project.  Maybe you liked a topic from your “Should….” Assignment, and would like to build on the 4 paragraphs that you crafted for that project.  Perhaps one of our Discussion board topics interested you, and you would like to learn more about that issue.

Maybe there is an issue currently taking place in your field that you can explore, or an ethical dilemma at work that your research could benefit.

Select a topic that has personal interest to you.  Pick a subject (ethical dilemma) that you are curious about within the sporting industry; and write your paper on that topic.

Topic Content

Each paper should address the multiple angles of your topic including but not limited to:

What ethical arguments arise from your topic?

What factors have contributed to the situation?

What rules govern the situation?

What ethical values should govern the situation?

What moral principles are violated with your topic?

What moral obligations do people in positions of power have?

Are there any solutions to this problem?

Have any other sports been affected by this issue? Will they?

When you are writing your paper try to develop your ideas past the reports, and look at the bigger picture.  The underlying issues will help you understand why things are happening, and will help you develop ideas for solving said problem.

As always supporting your ideas with facts, and sources, will only strengthen your points.

Length: Minimum of 15 pages (not including cover, and References)

Format: Times New Roman, 12 pt. font; Double Spaced

Requirements: The paper must be free from spelling errors, and grammatical mistakes. All sources must be referenced according to APA standards. All papers must include a reference page, which must also be in APA format. There is a minimum of 30 sources (avg. 2 per page) with at least 2 coming from the Sports Business Journal.

All papers must be submitted through LiveText, as well as the link provided below.  Look for the Blue links when submitting both copies of your final project. There will be two links where you. No work will be accepted late.
