Read Chapters I and IV in Jeremy Bentham’s The Principles of Morals and Legislation. Examine carefully the example in paragraph VIII. Write one single-spaced page analyzing this example in terms of the criteria of the value of pleasure. Then think of some other institution, such as a school, religious organization, political party, etc. and analyze it by the same criteria.
