Answer:

There are six stages of a family life cycle namely:

- Begining : where man and woman meet, get married and adjust with one another

- expanding : the couple having children and getting accomodated as New parents

- developing: where all the parents focus is on bringing up the children with guided paths

- launching: the start of college life for the children outside their home

- the Middle years : children married, retirement and the wait for grand children

- the retirement years: where the couple enjoys retirement years and fulfils their wishes

Do you think most couples today follow the same cycle as those 20 years ago? Why or why not?

No, I wouldn't agree to that. Couples today are much more different than what they were earlier. Many times, they wouldn't marry and start living in or without marrying they would have children. Or they wouldn't last till the retirement stage and get divorced much sooner in life. Taking care of children has become less important as parents only concentrate on their jobs and hand over the children to nannies.

Based on cultural trends and evolving values of new generations, what changes in marriage do you predict in the next 15 years? What evidence do you have to support this viewpoint?

Maybe in the next 15 years west will be completely different. A proper family structure is seen in the eastern and south eastern countries such as Korea, Japan, India, who seem to continue with their family structure. Their trends haven't changed much in the developing years as well, and the entire family structure is seen as it is. On the other hand, in countries like US, Brazil, France, the family structure doesn't seem to be seen in majority of the families. The divorce rate is very high along with pre marital children or children outside of their marriage. As of now, if we see the trends in broken marriages or try to view people's view on marriages, in the Western countries, we would not find many who would want to complete a family cycle. Maybe after 15 years, there would be existence of no family structure in the west, but it will be seen in the east.
