The necessary requirements when testing hypotheses by using proportions are,

1. The method of sampling must be simple random sampling (SRS).

2. There must be two outcomes for each trial- success, and failure.

3. A minimum of ten successes and ten failures must be included in the sample.

4. The population size has to be a minimum of 20 times bigger than the sample size.
