In order to determine how many silver maple trees are in the forest using the random sampling technique, one must first obtain a map of the forest. Using software random points within the forest may be selected. One must then travel to these points in order to throw a plot. Using the point selected by software do a count of every tree within 5.64 m (this will give a plot size of 0.01 ha). In a circle count all silver maples within the area. Do this for all the plota. Then find the average number of silver maples within these areas and extrapolate that data to cover the entirety of the forest.
