Fluid mechanics is a branch of physics that deals with fluids at rest, as well as fluids in motion.
The analysis of fluids at rest is called fluid statics, while the analysis of fluids in motion is called fluid dynamics.
When fluid dynamics, or, more specifically, fluid kinematics, are studied, the velocity and acceleration of fluid is observed. In fluid kinematics, the force/s causing the motion of fluid particles are not necessarily considered.
Again, if the force/s causing the motion of the fluid particles are considered, then it is called fluid dynamics.
