Is the provision of internet access a competitive industry? Briefly discuss

The provision of internet access is indeed a competitive industry. Albeit, not the easiest industry to enter, it is still a competitive industry in today's day and age. In fact, it is considered a highly competitive industry. While there are barriers to entry, companies have the freedom to enter the industry just as companies currently in the industry can go out of business. Perhaps years ago the internet industry was viewed as more of a monopoly since there were only so many competitors, but now that there are more than a dozen companies competing for market share it has become more of a competitive industry.
