To be prepared for the Savior’s second coming, a person needs to “care for the light of the soul” (D&C 101: 37). The Scripture teaches us not to pay attention to the body or the life of the body. Rather, it teaches that we should care for the soul and for the life of the soul. Caring for the life of the soul requires studying the scripture to nourish the soul with god’s word. It also requires living righteous lives that comply with the teachings of the Gospel.

Your Answer:

The overall purpose of Jesus Christ’s second coming is to save God’s people. God’s people will have undergone great persecution as a result of having their beliefs. Therefore, Christ’s second Coming will be aimed at saving his people from further persecution. During the Second Coming of the savior, there shall be no sorrow, the enmity between people and animals will cease, and Satan will no longer have any power to tempt man (D&C 101: 28-29). Therefore, the overall aim of the Second Coming is to restore man’s relationship with God and to end persecutions and tribulations that man goes through while on earth.

Your Answer:

The Scripture provides two main signs that should be looked out for to signal the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. One of the signs is the restoration of the Gospel and its expansion throughout the world. The second sign is the increase in evils and calamities throughout the world. An increase in the spread of the Gospel through the world combined with an increase in the number of calamities will signal that the end is near. Although no one really knows the day or hour of Jesus Christ’s Second Coming, the signs will indicate that his coming is near.
