The alternative name that can be given to macroeconomics will be the economics of aggregates as macroeconomics deals with aggregated indicators such as national income, unemployment rate, gross domestic product, etc, and comprises of the models which describe the relationship between these indicators as consumption, inflation, investment, international trade & finance, output, etc.

Macroeconomics is also often called Keynesian economics after the founder of most of the underlying theories.
