Since 1965 the economy of the United States has experienced seven economic contractions in its history; between the year 1969 to 1970, between November nineteen seventy-three and March nineteen seventy-five, between March 2001 and November 2001, and lastly between December 2007 and June 2009. The contraction in 2001 lasted until November 2001 saw the increased demand for computer equipment, which lead to a boom and an ensuing bust. In 2008 saw the worst contraction in the United States economy in the 21st Century, yet; it was comparable to the Great Depression of the 1930s.In July 1990, the economic contraction was caused by the savings and loan crisis credited to be the worst bank collapse since the Great Depression. In 1980, the economy's contraction was challenging to tackle as the inflation rate as a double-digit figure; however, expansionary fiscal policies helped to combat the contraction.
