The project will be in three parts. Unit 4- Choose case and sources for research Unit 6- submit a complete rough draft for feedback Unit 7- Submit the final draft CLOs/ULOs Distinguish what evidence is and how it affects the processing of a criminal case, the different types of evidence as introduced at trial, and the issues surrounding the use of witnesses as evidence in a criminal case. Critique hearsay evidence and privileged communications. Compare the types of searches utilized in the criminal justice system and the evidentiary issues that surround them, while understanding the process of preparing a case for trial. Directions Each student will select a case from a list provided by the instructor, consider questions posed by the instructor, research for answers to the questions, and write a paper ten pages in length using APA style. Write a complete paper addressing the following questions as applied to the case scenario the student selects from the list provided by the instructor: Name at least five different types of evidence needed to prove the guilt of the defendant in the case selected. What issues may arise with the witnesses given in the case selected? How may hearsay be an issue in prosecuting the case selected? Which privilege may be raised in the case selected? What issues may be raised in a motion to suppress regarding evidence seized in the case selected? What special issues should be addressed in preparing the case for trial?
