Behaviorists did not merely conduct laboratory research with animals. They developed many useful applications of the principles of learning. These include clinical appl ications in which the goal of the clinician is to provide new environmental experiences through which the client can learn new, more adaptive forms of behavior. Systematic desensitization and token economy programs are two examples of the application of behavioral principles.
