A low-grade fever could be the start of a kidney infection. Renal colic can be caused by three different sources. The most common is urinary obstruction, which increases the intraluminal pressure and the stretch of the nerve endings. Irritation from direct contact of the stone in the ureteral mucosa or collecting cavity. Lastly, the renal capsule stretches from interstitial edema, especially when pyelonephritis is present (Favus, 2018). Frank is presenting with hematuria and extreme pain.
