MINITAB COMPUTER LAB for MINITAB EXPRESS for MAC Chapter 6 Your final document will be a word processing document like MS WORD. You can also submit a document with the extension .rtf; .pdf; .doc; .docx; .tif. You will have to copy/paste all Minitab results and graphs within your word processing document. You can then format your document for presentation. No datafiles needed for this lab. In WORD: ? Type in your 4-line identification information. ? Remember to copy/paste all Minitab results from the Output Pane into WORD. In Minitab: 1. Use MINITAB to find the probability that one randomly selected value of x from a normal distribution (mean of 584.2 and standard deviation of 37.3) will have a specific value (in this case 525 and 590, see below). ? Label C1 ? values and enter 525 and 590 under C1 ? Use the following menu commands : Choose: Statistics > Probability Distributions > CDF/PDF > Cumulative Distribution Function Enter: Form of input: A column of values Values in: C1 Distribution: Normal Mean: 584.2; Standard Deviation: 37.3 Output: Display a table of cumulative probabilities Using the results just created, find the following probabilities: i. Using your Minitab results, find the probability that x is less than 525 ii. Using your Minitab results, find the probability that x is between 525 and 590 iii. Using your Minitab results, find the probability that x is at least 590 iv. Find the same three probabilities above but this time use the standard normal table (Table A-2 in the textbook) to help you find the results. Make sure to state your answers for the three probability found using the tables. v. Explain any differences you may find between the answers computed via Minitab and the ones you obtained using the tables. 2. Copy/Paste your Minitab Output Pane and all graphs in Word. Proofread and edit as needed. 3. If you would like to keep a copy of your Minitab work, go to File and save the project.
