You are the director of the HIM department for an acute care facility. Recently, your hospital has merged with another acute care facility. The HIM director of the other facility has stated that she is going to retire and will not be helping or taking part in the merger. Therefore, the Executive Board has placed you in charge of merging the two HIM departments. Both facilities have hybrid records which use the same systems. IT will be merging all of the information contained in both systems into a single system. 

• Using benchmarking standards, create a step-by-step strategic plan to merge the two departments. Be sure to include the order of merger and number of employees needed for each area. Identify areas that are over/understaffed, areas needing training, and any other issues that may arise during the merger. Be sure that this is written as a step-by-step plan. The statistics for both departments are provided in the assignment file below.
