was the rumor that he had an ongoing relationship with an enslaved woman in his house—Sally Hemings. Through DNA testing, we now know that a sexual relationship existed and that he fathered six children through Sally Hemings. She was willed to Jefferson's household as a toddler and at a young age began working as a nanny for Jefferson's children. She accompanied the family to Paris when she was just fourteen years old. Historians believe this is when Jefferson engaged in a sexual relationship with her. Given her position as the mother of Jefferson's children, what do you think of this piece in the LA Times?
