you will examine, interpret, analyze, and explicate two poems of your choosing, from the Tang Poetry. Please provide a response of at least a 1/2 page response total (double-spaced using Times New Roman, 12 point font). Also, be mindful of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation, as your score for this assignment is also based on mechanical accuracy.

 

For each poem, write a quarter-page, double-spaced paragraph in which you complete the following:

 

 (1) Your interpretation of the poem's "deeper meaning."

 

 (2) An explanation of how the structure or form of the poem functions to reinforce this idea (i.e. "alamkaram")

 

First Poem:        In the Quiet Night

              The floor before my bed is bright:

              Moonlight -like hoarfrost-in my room.

              I lift my head and watch the moon.

              I drop my head and think of home.

 

 

Second Poem:                 Sitting Alone by Jingting Mountain

                             The flocks of birds have flown high and away,

                             A solitary cloud goes off calmly alone.

                             We look at each other and never get bored-

                             Just me and Jingting Mountain.
