Introduction to Geography & Maps Discussion question - answer in a few sentences: How can the average person become more Geographically aware?  What do you plan on doing to increase your Geographical awareness?

For someone to become more geographically aware they could get a better understanding of what Geography means and what it asks. Geography comes from the Greek words Geos and Graphien which mean Earth Description. Those seeking to become more Geographically aware should ask themselves; Where are things located? Why are they there? Is that phenomenon located someplace else? Does it occur for the same reason? What is the significance or impact on humanity and living things? Someone could ask these fundamental questions when observing Phenomena, such as, the physical geography of North America, volcanoes, or weather patterns. Something that is very intriguing to me is getting a better understanding of how natural, geographical defenses of certain areas, could be a reason why those locations may have been settled. I would like to look over Mercator maps to see some potential ways that geography could have helped or hindered civilizations over the course of time, in regard to natural defenses.
