Nurses are in the forefront of healthcare by knowing the bedside better than anybody else. For this reason they are important to setting the standard in safety and quality. Managers and other nursing leadership are in a unique position to influence policy and change in healthcare. They are granted authority to one particular way or another to influence change in their staff and to convenience stakeholders on the need for reform.
